Chapter 7: Let’s change like the leaves during autumn

(Author’s note: I know I forget my sims’ birthdays, but I assure you, this chapter will feature the last of that forgetfulness)

Camouflaged in purple, the recently aged-up Gaby and Ramona hang out together at the nursery one last time before the whole house gets renovated to suit the current household set-up.

The five kids are starting to leave an impact on a previously-spacious house, and there are changes that need to be made.

The first drops of rain start to fall on Sunset Valley, and those two should really reconsider painting outside at this time of the year.

(The one on the left is Gaby, while the one on the right is Vinca)

Inside the house, Ramona tells her mother about her plan to stay outside to watch the clouds. Miranda wonders if her daughter’s being obnoxious on purpose before refusing.

Chelsea seems to develop the tendency to sneak around? The family just ignores it though.

Featuring one of the new additions to the house: a cozy little painting studio for Vinca to paint within the safety of a dry shelter.

And beside the little studio, is a small area just enough for this chemical table set-up to be squeezed in, with Buster the goldfish’s bowl and Stanley’s butterfly collection on the opposite wall.

Gaby specifically requested this as a birthday gift.

Look at how Gaby stares at that glowing liquid while unsupervised. She knows what she’s doing. She’s been reading the tutorials off the internet.

(Also featured in the back is a painting that Vinca won as a prize from an art competition.)

Today is a big day, since it appears that Stanley has dug up his old suit from his wedding!

And he’s ordering pizza, which makes the day even more special.

The younger twins are also in formal wear, and they probably don’t need to use their twin telepathic abilities to tell each other how much it stinks to wear it.

It’s Graduation day for Chelsea and Vinca!

Miranda starts to panic at the fact that Vinca still hasn’t changed into her ceremonial robes, but she seems to be too preoccupied with something that smells bad in the room.

(Maybe someone forgot to put the leftovers in the fridge again)

Getting impatient from waiting for the others, Lukas went downstairs to get in the car first.

Just as he did, several droplets from the sky threatened to ruin his freshly-pressed suit, and he’s not having any of that. He yells for everyone to get to the car already, to which they eventually leave for the ceremony.

The ceremony was boring and stuffy, and it was a relief for everyone when they got their ribbons and diplomas. And then it was time to leave. Aunt Eva was able to catch up when the twins’ names were called, but had to leave first for another concert.

While everyone else was distracted, Lukas pulls Chelsea aside and waves a box of present in front of her. She grins widely as she takes it from his hands, before taking a quick peek by forcibly trying to open one loose corner. Chelsea smiles.

“Aawwww, thanks bro, this is really sweet,” she tucks it inside her robe and pats it affectionately.

Chelsea suddenly finds herself in the arms of her mother, who hugs her as if she wouldn’t let go.

“I can’t believe I’m seeing the first of my kids to leave the house,” Miranda sniffles. She really doesn’t want to cry right now.

“Mom, the military facility is just an hour away,” Chelsea laughs, before hugging back more tightly. “I’ll miss you too. I’ll miss everyone here.”

With her bags already packed, Chelsea Ramos left for the military just as soon as everyone could change out of their formal clothes.

Vinca left the house a few days after Chelsea did, to set out towards the most obvious career choice for her: a professional artist. Weeks later, she drops by to visit with someone she had been seeing for a while now.

Today she formally introduces her girlfriend to the family. They currently live together in one of the beach houses along the neighborhood.

Tammi Velasco is so well-received by the Ramos family that the couple gets frequently invited for dinners.

(Stanley finally replaces his usual brightly orange dyed hair with the gray color of age)

Autumn finally arrives, but Gaby still hasn’t arrived at school.

She’s almost always late because she eats her breakfast so slowly, but she manages.

Meanwhile, Ramona enters a different car, and is off to continue her schooling at Smuggsworth Prep School, to the bewilderment of her family.

Being a computer whiz, all the time she spent on going through several web pages landed her on the Smuggsworth Prep School website, and through a moment of impulse, she sent her application. Her essay ends up being chosen as one of the best essays that could receive a scholarship.

Everyone just kinda shrugged and accepted it, but Gaby was more adamant. She is upset that she didn’t get to school in a limo too.

Stanley has considerably mellowed with age. No more running around in town carrying those heavy containers everywhere, he decided to use his energy for taking care the garden while he still can.

Miranda doesn’t have the same fears of age as she did when Eva aged up. Perhaps seeing Stanley get old beside her made her realize that it isn’t as scary as she thought.

With her work, it’s been progressing steadily, and her occasional change of uniform proves this. Miranda Ramos has always wanted to build up her own reputation separate from her sister’s. She wants to be recognized for her own talents.

Lukas’ rebellious impulse is starting to show.

Currently, his goal is go out of the house with his curfew on the line, in the pretense of testing out his new bike. He hasn’t run into any of the patrolling officers yet, not even his sister’s girlfriend Tammi, and that boosts his confidence.

(Author’s note: Okay, that was a cop-out on Ramona’s part, and it was also an impulse decision that I kinda forgot until the limo arrived. So…yeah, there you go. I’m currently down to handling four sims for now)

Chapter 6: This one’s for Robert

The morning greets a new member of the Ramos family, Buster the goldfish.

It’s a fish from one of Vinca’s fishing trips, and she decided to give this one a new home.

Here’s Stanley, hard at work in sprucing up those plants before autumn sets in, finally wearing something sensible while doing so.

Here’s Miranda tickling one of the younger twins who weren’t shown ever in this blog ever since their birth after her jog; this one’s Gaby, and she loves getting her tickles.

Here’s the youngest twin, Ramona, who isn’t affected by the excited squeals and continue.

The reason for Ramona’s hair color is still up to debate among the confused family members, though Stanley insists that he really didn’t dye it or anything.

Miranda joins in her son Lukas, who has just recently aged-up and whose birthday I may have accidentally forgotten, in a game that his sisters before him have previously played.

(Author’s note: This is also the last picture that I have of Lukas as a child, because I am forgetful)

Eva really loves her nieces and nephew, and makes sure to grab every opportunity to spend time with the youngest ones.

Stanley wishes that Eva could have at least changed Ramona’s diaper before suspiciously leaving the house on such short notice.

Lukas has finally caught up with his older sisters in the teenage years. Unfortunately for him, he hasn’t caught up with their skills in the art of sleeping comfortably in the presence of a crying toddler, yet.

He loves his younger sisters, he really do, but it just pains him to see that just when they were suddenly crying, they go back to sleep just as quickly. Lukas goes back to sleep, defeated.

His sisters appear to be in a better mood in the morning though, so that’s something everyone can be happy with.

Chelsea brings home a classmate for a paired science homework, but she’s starting to doubt his intentions with the way he makes a beeline for her father’s butterfly collection.

She lets him off the hook for any potential kleptomaniac tendencies when she sees the unabashed amazement on his face.

“I named that one Robert,” Chelsea says out loud, in an attempt to show off.

Not that Chelsea’s intentions were any better; she was starting to get desperate for a date since prom night is already in the horizon. And she’d really like to get a date.

Jasen Johnston looks a bit cute, and he seems fun to be with, and he’s kinda her type, but she settled for having him as a homework partner when he starts to sing.

Vinca, on the other hand, is more preoccupied with drawing possible dress designs for prom.

A random picture of Eva with a cane, which she bought days ago just for a dramatic impact on Miranda.

(Also featuring the rotten dish and unfinished cooking)

It’s finally prom night. Chelsea thinks she should do something with her hair for a change (but ends up doing nothing anyway).

Despite her very elaborate designs, Vinca actually settles for something very simple instead.

She smiles at Lukas, who is leaving for his part-time job and couldn’t attend prom due to aging up too late to catch up with the pre-registration. Poor guy.

Meanwhile, the parents decide to hog the game system while their kids are out at school.

Stanley is not happy with his controller; Miranda knows how glitchy that one can be and had chosen hers intentionally, and is happily winning the game to her advantage.

Lukas wakes up to the lights being turned on and to a loud thud from the front yard. He blinks sleepily at Vinca, who is focused on removing her fake eyelashes with careful precision.

“Where’s Chelsea?” He yawns. It’s probably 10 in the evening now; he goes to bed very early after finishing his homework.

Vinca stops and looks at Lukas with wide eyes. “Wait, she’s not behind me?”

Looks like someone had too much punch.

(Author’s note: This was a fun chapter to write. I seriously did not realize that Chelsea was still not inside the house, and there you go. All snug and cozy among the plants.)

Chapter 5: On many whims

Screenshot-370

The days go by faster in the Ramos household as the weather starts to get colder. Still, Stanley continues to work on his garden while barefoot, since he can’t be bothered to look for his shoes.

Screenshot-431

Inside, Chelsea utilizes the work-out videos that she found in the TV’s database. She figures that her mom was probably the one who downloaded it.

Lukas is supposedly there to witness his older sister’s effort towards greatness, since Vinca is too busy being asleep, but he just ends up turning his back on her to play with this dinosaur toy she used to coax him out.

Screenshot-387

On one chilly night, everyone hangs out downstairs where it was warmer, Miranda rushes home to announce her promotion!

She isn’t too pleased with the new uniform though, but would still accept that congratulatory hug.

Screenshot-391

The twins overhear the news and hopes that their mom will buy a computer on a whim, like how Aunt Eva bought most of the stuff in this house.

Screenshot-432

Just a cute picture with mom.

Screenshot-433

On nights when Vinca is too busy maintaining her rank in the games, Chelsea uses her share of easel and painting materials to paint idly.

She’s envious of how quickly Vinca developed her craft in such a short amount of time, and wants to have something that she can dedicate her time to as well. Chelsea is picky, and gets bored so quickly, it’s a wonder for her to stick with anything.

Screenshot-416

Their father also notices Vinca’s intense dedication to her craft, and this scene reminds him of Miranda’s constant guitar practices during their college days.

Screenshot-404

Father and daughter hang out together in silence, both preoccupied with their own stuff, but still enjoying each other’s company.

Screenshot-429

The sink breaks for the first time! Someone isn’t looking too guilty about it though!

Screenshot-454

Vinca always has this subtle affinity towards nature, and gladly takes her father’s invitation to fish in one of the parks (even though they live across the beach, but whatever).

Screenshot-455

It’s a quick walk from the house, and hardly anyone visits this place except for her family, so Vinca gets to enjoy this fishing lesson in peace.

Or at least it was a fishing lesson, until Stanley was suddenly running off somewhere with a different net than the one she’s using for the fish. Vinca guesses that he likes catching butterflies more.

Screenshot-464

Meanwhile, Chelsea gets grounded for breaking the sink with one of her pranks, so while everyone else is out, she’s stuck with this babysitter until Stanley and Vinca gets home from their fishing trip.

She tries to show off by talking about her cool aunt’s music, but Christel Febie politely nods and listens. She couldn’t believe that this kid would just turn out to be related to one of her favorite singers.

Screenshot-465

Chelsea shows off their movie collection.

“You know, I like this more than cleaning the house,” Christel says. “You’re making this worth it, kid.”

Screenshot-468

“Holy shit, you look older.”

The shock on Miranda’s face shows how long the sisters haven’t seen each other in a while. It felt like only a short amount of time has passed; seeing that age had crept up to her older sister makes her realized that her youth and energy is starting to wane already.

Screenshot-469

Miranda notices that she dyed her hair to how it was before. Maybe the grey hair scares her more than she cares to admit. “You know, I’m actually starting to worry about you.”

“Mira, look at me,” Eva spreads out her arms to emphasize herself. “Why would you worry about someone this cool?”

Miranda rolls her eyes. “Because I don’t want you to drop dead in front of me?”

Eva pats her sister on her shoulder, dropping the bravado. “I won’t leave the stage so soon, I assure you that.”

After the older sister tries to reassure the younger one that things will be fine, they get to the point of Miranda’s visit: it’s the twins’ birthday party, and they’re inviting their best aunt as the guest of honor!

Screenshot-475

Chelsea WANTS to get the first slice, and gets first dibs on the age-up process.

Screenshot-478

She has no idea how sparkly it can get.

Eva doesn’t have any children of her own, even with her long-time boyfriend Stiles, so she’s just really excited at being able to witness the kids growing up.

Screenshot-471

Vinca goes next, and has her doubts about high school, but gives a small smile to everyone.

Screenshot-479

Finally cake! Everyone digs in the store-brought birthday cake.

(Author’s note: This chapter’s a bit longer than the previous ones, but I’m planning to speed things up! Hopefully I won’t always be in a rush like this, but for now, I gotta do what I gotta do)

Chapter 4: The wonder twins

Screenshot-254

Of all times for it to happen, on her third (and hopefully last) pregnancy, Stanley lost the keys to the damn car.

“Just get a taxi already!” Miranda whines.

Several hours later, the tired couple goes home with twin girls again. Thankfully this pregnancy finally completes the roll of 5 children. They’re expecting the house to be bustling with energy at this point.

Screenshot-261

Miranda finally gets back on the job, and her excitement shows as she eats her dinner with vigor. Vinca wants to know more about what she does without having to attend one, and this stings Miranda’s feelings for a bit.

“Why not? It’d be nice to see you cheer in front of me.”

Vinca shuffles her feet under the table. “Crowds just make me nervous sometimes.”

“Oh.” She hasn’t really considered it before, but now she realizes how fidgety Vinca gets when she goes to school. “Just wait here.”

Screenshot-288.jpg

Miranda grabs her guitar and plays one of her best songs. If Eva gets to show off in front of her fans, then she gets to show off to her own kids, whatever that logic means.

Still, Vinca did end up cheering for her.

Screenshot-278

Stanley gets back to running on the job too.

Screenshot-279

He stops for a rare specimen along the way…

Screenshot-283

Then he’s off again!

Screenshot-286

Just a nice and quiet scene up in the hills.

Screenshot-358.jpg

When he got home, he sets up this really flashy corner in the living room where it features all of his favorite specimen under a fancy pink light. He mostly collects for himself now, having sold most of them to the facility every now and then.

Chelsea waves at the one with the red wings, amused at her dad’s collection. She doesn’t know how much these things has contributed to their family funds.

Screenshot-360

Miranda gives a heads-up to the older kids about their third sibling who recently just aged up to a toddler. He’ll have more needs now, and fussier, so they should be really careful about playing and goofing around in the nursery.

Vinca takes it as a precaution to never play in the nursery again, and promptly tells Chelsea of this development. Both don’t mind staying upstairs anyway.

Screenshot-363

Speaking of the nursery, it finally gets shown in this blog.

Lukas currently shares it with the younger twins, but they’re still too young to play with him, and his older sisters misunderstood the point, so now it’s up to mom and dad to keep him company.

Screenshot-368

Despite their differences in tastes and hobbies, the older twins share a common hobby: playing video games with a questionable amount of violence.

Both girls also don’t want to do anything with music stuff. Sure, their mom and their aunt are really good at it, and it makes them wonder if they should be good at it too.

Screenshot-367.jpg

No one was pushing them to pursue it anyway, but there is still this nagging feeling that weighs on their minds. Chelsea feels the most pressured out of the two, as she currently doesn’t have a thing to be good at, like Vinca and her painting.

Vinca ends up winning the race due to her sister getting distracted.

Chapter 3: Acceptable negotiations

Screenshot-210

After seeing Eva leave for another concert, who was visiting her nieces’ birthdays, Miranda faces her house and looks at it properly for the first time.

She feels melancholic all of a sudden, which is weird because her life just started two chapters ago. In an attempt to drown out that feeling, she whips out her guitar and plays it.

Screenshot-211

This one’s for you, household.

Screenshot-205

A buzz from her phone interrupts Miranda’s performance; it was Eva calling her. Apparently, a music scout named Stiles McGraw just asked her out on a date, and she said yes.

Both women squeal; Miranda knows how picky her sister is in the dating scene, so hearing her actually go out with someone makes her very excited for her.

Screenshot-208

“YOU’VE GOT TO TELL ME EVERYTHING.”

Screenshot-209

Back inside the house, Stanley poses with Chelsea, who has his actual hair color with her mom’s eyes.

Screenshot-196

And here’s Vinca with dad’s eyes.

Screenshot-202

Here’s a cute pic showing how Chelsea would gladly share her toy with her parents, but Vinca is elusive enough to hide her face from the camera.

Screenshot-215

Stanley tells his daughter about his work. It’s not always that he gets to brag about it.

“Daddy’s his own boss, though the guys at the Science Facility think otherwise.”

Screenshot-220

Child no. 3 is on their way! Or will it be child no. 3 and no. 4? (The twins were definitely a surprise, but Stanley was twice as pleased)

Screenshot-276

Paying the bills like an upstanding citizen!

Screenshot-249

Miranda visits her sister to tell her about the pregnancy, and after catching up with each other, she stays longer to jam together before Eva leaves for ANOTHER concert.

Screenshot-256

Child no. 3 it is! This one’s named Lukas.

At some point, the couple did a quick rearranging of furniture in the house, so the karaoke machine now stays upstairs.

Screenshot-263

Lukas’ older sisters aged up on the night that he was born, so Vinca and Chelsea finally leave the nursery and get a room of their own.

Or at least that’s what they thought. Turns out they’ll still share a room, and even had a spare bed there for Lukas when he grows up. Vinca tries to plead with her case of having separate rooms, but Stanley isn’t having any of it. Chelsea gives one glance at the beds, and shrugs at Vinca’s speech.

“Geez, you can have the top bunk,” Chelsea rolls her eyes.

Screenshot-302

Vinca finds this negotiation acceptable.

Screenshot-294

For their birthday presents, Chelsea and Vinca were each given an easel along with several canvasses and paints, but only Vinca uses hers.

She likes the silence at the back of the house. There’s the feeling of owning this balcony, as hardly anyone else hangs out here.

Screenshot-297

Miranda also bought this chess set as a gift for the girls, but Chelsea takes one look at it and decides that it’s not her thing at all.

Screenshot-298

She’d rather play with this telescope, which could count as (an unintentional) gift from Aunt Eva, who had plopped this inside the house on a whim and decided that Miranda and Stanley could find some use for it.

At least it turns out to be useful for the kids.

(Author’s note: I’ll make sure to finish at least 10 chapters before summer classes start. Wooooo)

Chapter 2: Out running somewhere

Screenshot-166

Miranda remembers their wedding in her dreams as she continues to sleep in.

Meanwhile, someone else is up and early for his job, but wants to wait for Miranda to have breakfast together, so he grabs a book and relaxes beside her.

Screenshot-133

Miranda grabs her guitar the moment she got out of bed. She’s got a lot of good feelings inside her today.

Screenshot-134

Stanley appreciates the fact that he can listen to her play while he makes them breakfast.

It’s a melody to behold.

Screenshot-135

Though Miranda can’t say the same for the puking sounds she has been making after her stomach forced to stop her playing.

Their breakfast was delicious and definitely edible, so Stanley is reassured that it wasn’t his cooking that caused this morning sickness.

Screenshot-151

Stanley has recently taken up gardening to make use of all the weird seeds he found from his expeditions (and also to take up the huge empty space in their backyard).

Screenshot-169

Speaking of expeditions, Stanley is everywhere. His job includes a lot of running across the many hills in Sunset Valley.

In the morning, he’s out running in the woods.

Screenshot-89

In the evening, he’s still out running somewhere in the words.

Screenshot-115

By the time he gets to the top of one of the hills in Sunset Valley, he arrives just in time to see this spectacle.

“Well, hello to you too.”

Then he captures one of them and places them in a special tank, ready to be sold to the Science Facility or to any rich kid. Both are willing to get their hands on these specimen as long as they don’t do the dirty work, so Stanley obliges as long as he gets paid for.

Screenshot-163

He usually goes back home with his trusty bike. It’s a long way down.

Screenshot-112

It’s a bit of a fact around town that Stanley is that one dude always running to some place, always seen running out of the trees, carrying a bunch of those weird tanks.

Or in this case, looking like a total mess. (Nick Alto is understandably mortified at this scene)

Screenshot-106

Meanwhile, on the same alley where our story has started, Miranda gets to know Pauline Wan, one of her co-workers who seems to be really eager to befriend someone who is related to a celebrity.

Miranda just lets this impression slide and doesn’t think too much about it.

Screenshot-143

One night, Miranda goes home from work with a sudden wardrobe change. It doesn’t seem like a new uniform assignment, so Stanley feels compelled enough to ask.

“What’s the occasion?” He refers at her dress.

Miranda laughs and grabs one of his hands. “I’m pregnant, silly.”

Screenshot-145

She can tell that Stanley is SO looking forward to this.

(Author’s note: I didn’t take any pictures when the babies — TWINS — were born, nor did I take any pictures before they grew to toddlers, so next chapter will feature a small timeskip. And I’m also I’m speeding through these chapters.)

Chapter 1: Not with that attitude

Screenshot-15

Miranda Ramos glares at the phone screen in an attempt to make the person on the other end of the call answer it, but no one picks up.

As she puts away her phone in frustration, she silently curses that person to end up in the dumpster for being late and not even bothering to explain why.

She may be annoyed, but she lets herself be distracted with what some people at the back were complaining about (she guesses that it may be the sudden wave of garbage in the air). She decides to investigate.

Screenshot-18

Miranda is more mortified to face the smell at this distance than at seeing a pair of legs sticking out of the dumpster.

She’s not sure if she really wants to get herself involved in this. Now she understands why the other bystanders awkwardly walked away from the scene, but that person still looks like they need some help.

Screenshot-23

Or maybe not. Just as the person manages to pull themselves out, Miranda’s face contorts to full disgust, not just from the smell, mind you, but also from seeing who the person is.

Stanley Ramos quickly stands up and brushes himself off, as if it helps with whatever mix of muck and smell that’s sticking into him. Then he looks up and realizes that Miranda is standing in front of him, scowling.

You,” she hisses.

“Heeeeey Miranda, you’re looking good,” he quickly gives Miranda his biggest, flashiest, most apologetic, and to Miranda’s eyes, most unconvincing smile.

Screenshot-26

Miranda pauses for a bit, knowing it won’t do her any good to get angry now, then breathes in deeply (and regrets it). Through coughing fits she manages to say, “Are you really really sure about meeting Eva like this?”

One thing’s for sure, Stanley is really really sorry about potentially ruining his wife’s only family’s impression of him, but that family also happens to be one of the well-known rock stars of Sunset Valley.

To say that it makes him nervous to think about it is an understatement, given that he has resorted to hiding in a dumpster behind the cinema after all.

Screenshot-32

Speaking of a well-known rock star, Miranda’s sister is actively playing that role just in front of the cinema.

The three were supposed to meet up here, but as the start of this story dictates, one of them is running a bit late. So Eva Ramos takes it upon herself to amuse herself while she waits. (Her fans are very pleased with this too)

Screenshot-35

Miranda lets Stanley off the hook so he could clean himself up somewhere, and she walks to the front of the building only to see her sister showing off to her fans.

She rolls her eyes. She’s not sure how to call her out of this crowd.

Screenshot-39

Unceremoniously grabbing the guitar out of her hands always seem to do the trick. The crowd groans and then starts to disintegrate, with most of them going inside the cinema.

“I can now see why Stanley’s intimidated by your rock star status,” Miranda muses.

Eva snorts. “That’s a poor way to disguise your jealousy, sis.”

Screenshot-40

The sisters ditch the cinema in favor of the park.

Miranda stops swinging to send a text to Stanley about their current location. She wonders if he’s already clean by now.

Screenshot-41

After spending several minutes, Miranda sees a familiar silhouette who is considerably looking fresher than earlier.

Eva notices him too, and calls out to him. “Glad to see you outside the dumpster, Stanley!”

Miranda groans at her lack of tact, while Stanley feels his embarrassment quickly going away to make room for the relief of hearing Eva make fun of him. It looks like he won’t face the assumed wrath of the older sister this time.

Screenshot-49

After making sure that no impression was ruined forever and that he got Eva’s approval, Miranda cheers at the success of the interaction! Her husband thinks it’s cute.

Stanley smiles sheepishly. “I guess I can now stop feeling guilty over the house she gave to us for free.”

Screenshot-126

Stanley quickly gets over his guilt with a “quick” karaoke session.

(Eva was really generous with the extra — and often unnecessary — stuff that she included in the house, but it’s appreciated)

Screenshot-131

The Ramos couple might like Sunset Valley even more than they had anticipated.

Author’s note: Hello! Yes, if you’re familiar of the sims 3 challenges, this is a random legacy challenge, and I’m not gonna bother with saying that I’ll be able to finish this. BUT, I’d like to continue it. So here I am, continuing it.

I just moved the contents from an old blog (from an account with an email address that I have severely forgotten) and revised some lines here and there, but I’ll get back to the swing of things after the 5th chapter. Hopefully.

The rolls for this generation is as follows: couple, 5, music (classical), collector, property mogul, and luxury. I am a bit worried about the rolled number of children, but whatever! It’ll be more fun and challenging this way.
